Marvel Developing Hawkeye Spinoff 'ECHO'

The Hawkeye TV series, starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld (and featuring Lucky the Pizza dog!!) has yet to debut on Disney+, but word is a spinoff is already in the works from the streaming giant and Marvel Studios.

The show will centre on the deaf Native-American character Echo, aka Maya Lopez, who first appeared in Daredevil #9 (1999) and was created by David Mack and Joe Quesada as part of the Marvel Knights line.

In the comics, Echo wears a white painted handprint across her face, similar to the bloody print her dying father left on her face after Wilson Fisk (aka the Kingpin ) killed him.

She has the ability to mimic (or echo...See what they did there?) other's skills; including her opponents fighting styles, making her a very formidale foe.

Echo has appeared in Marvel Comics titles such as Daredevil, the Avengers and Moon Knight (who also has a show starring Oscar Isaac coming to the streaming service in the near future).

Lopez would go on to originate the guise of Ronin in the New Avengers before ultimately handing the identity over to Hawkeye (who Art by Joe Quesada and David Mack would use this years later in the MCU's Avengers: Endgame).

Echo will be played by Alaqua Cox in Hawkeye with the actress expected to reprise the role in the spinoff.

The show is being developed by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen who are set to write and serve as executive producers.

No release date has been announced, but Hawkeye is expected to premiere later in 2021 on Disney+.
