Dune Remake Delayed until 2021

Updated: Oct 7, 2020

Warner Bros. upcoming remake of Dune has fallen victim to the 'Covid Shuffle' once again, and is now targeting a release on October 1, 2021. Because with the pandemic still in charge for a few months, we still can't have nice things this year (that's how it works right? As soon as 2020 ends, so to does the virus?)

Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Sicario) this is the second time Frank Herbert's novel will be brought to the silver screen, following David Lynch's cult classic from 1984.

The new film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård and Javier Bardem in what might be the most star packed cast since Avengers: Endgame.

And not only will it look great but it will also sound great as the film will be scored by the legendary Hans Zimmer.

Here is Warner Bros official synopsis:

"A mythic and emotionally charged hero's journey, "Dune" tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet's exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity's greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive. "
