Oscar Isaac Attached to Lead Sony's 'Metal Gear Solid' Adaptation

Well damn... If this isn't some darn fine casting right here!

Oscar Isaac is now said to be attached to Sony's upcoming movie adaptation of the mega-popular Playstation series Metal Gear solid.

Isaac will play the main protagonist of the series, Solid Snake.

The game series, created by the legendary Hideo Kojima, became a massive hit for Playstation and studio Konami upon the release of the 4th entry into the Metal Gear series, 1998's 'Metal Gear Solid'.

That highly acclaimed game followed Solid Snake, a soldier who must infiltrate a nuclear weapons facility in Alaska to stop a terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit that Snake used to be associated with. The game was heavily stealth-based and expertly plot driven. It was one of the games that launched the popularity of stealth games.

The movie is set to be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts the man behind the excellent films The Kings of Summer and Kong: Skull Island.

No release date has been set, and with Oscar Isaac attached to quite a few high profile projects (not the least of which is the title role of Marvel's Moon Knight TV series), it may be a little while until this kicks off production. But with a big name now attached don't be surprised if Sony moves this up their priority list quick smart.
