Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit to be Released in 4K UHD, NZ to Look Even More Stunning

The Lord of the Rings, one of the most successful franchises of all time, and winner of 17 academy awards is about to get the 4K ultra high-definition Blu-ray treatment.


The movie also went on to boost tourism in New Zealand about a bajillion-fold, and saw a slew of movies film in the country in the wake of it's success; most recently the live-action remake of Disney's Mulan.


The announcement of the remaster came from none other than Samwise Gamgee himself, Sean Astin, who stated the release will be right in time for the holiday season, on December 1st. He also mentioned director Peter Jackson oversaw the upscale himself.


Oh and they are doing the same with The Hobbit if that's your jam.

Middle Earth will next be seen in the upcoming Amazon series. Production is on hold due to the Covid pandemic, but is currently expected to premiere in 2021.
