Ok let’s just get it out of the way...we all wanted Nathan Fillion to play Nathan Drake.
Unfortunately in the 13 years since Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was released he may have aged out of the role. The man is 49 after all, which is not to say he couldn’t still pull off the character, after all Paul Rudd is 51 and still rocks the spandex over in the MCU. So actually I made no point there. But rambling IS in our name.
Anyway, Tom Holland, Peter Parker himself, is our Nathan Drake in the upcoming film adaptation of Uncharted. Holland today revealed our first look at his Nathan Drake and you have to admit he looks the part in the photo:
The film, scheduled to release in 2021 (if COVID stops being such a dick), is a prequel to the game series, which allows us to accept the fact the Holland looks a bit young to play the tomb raiding protagonist.
Uncharted will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, who you may remember as the director of such films as Zombieland, it’s sequel Zombieland: Double Tap, Gangster Squad and...Venom (well, hey, they can’t all be winners).
Mark Wahlberg will join Holland as Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan, Drake’s mentor. Antonio Banderas Is also slated to star.
Sony Pictures is, naturally, the studio behind the film (Sony being the publisher of the game series).
So...what do you think of Tom Holland as Nathan Drake? Has the photo swayed your opinion at all? Can we agree Mark Wahlberg as Sully is a way more out of place casting choice than Holland?
